Who We Are
Compassionate Support for Black Survivors
The Black Religious Trauma Recovery Network is a healing space made just for our community. We serve Black individuals who have been hurt by high-control religious groups or cult-like spaces. We know that these experiences are deep and complicated. Our goal is to offer a safe path toward reclaiming your peace and dignity.

When you reach out, you can expect a warm and respectful response. We will listen to your story without judgment. Together, we will find the resources that best fit your needs and help you feel grounded again.

The Foundation of Our Care
Our network is built on core principles that honor your lived experience, respect your autonomy, and prioritize your safety above all else.
Spiritual Safety
We prioritize your psychological and emotional safety. Our space is free from the tools of coercion, shame, or fear found in high-control groups.
Belief Autonomy
We honor each person's right to explore, define, and evolve their own beliefs, values, and worldview. We do not promote a single religious, spiritual, or secular path. Survivors are welcomed wherever they are in their journey and supported in discovering what feels authentic to them.
Radical Dignity
We affirm the inherent worth of every survivor, especially when it has been stripped away by systems of control. We honor your right to exist fully and authentically.
Cultural Container
Healing from religious trauma requires a space that understands the unique intersections of faith, family, and Blackness. We provide a safe space that feels inviting.
Communal Echo
No one heals in isolation. We believe every survivor deserves the opportunity to tell their story, speak their truth, ask difficult questions, and be heard without dismissal, punishment or shame. We believe in the power of hearing your story echoed in the experiences of others who look like you and understand your journey.
Agency
You are the expert on your own life. We offer guidance and resources, but you hold the power to choose the path of recovery that feels right for you.
Liberation
We believe healing includes reclaiming the freedom to think, question, choose and define oneself beyond systems of fear, control, oppression and spiritual coercion.

MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER
Grounded in Lived Experience
My name is Nikki G., and this work is deeply personal to me. Having walked the path of reclaiming my own peace from multiple-cult experiences, I know how heavy and lonely that journey can feel. I founded this network to ensure that no Black survivor has to navigate the complex layers of spiritual abuse alone. My commitment to you is rooted in professional mental health standards and a deep dedication to your spiritual safety. We are here to help you find your voice, set your boundaries, and breathe freely again in a space that truly sees and honors your dignity.
